About
About AutoImport Calculator
AutoImport Calculator is a free calculator that shows the full cost of bringing a car from an EU country and registering it in Poland – in złoty and with the legal basis of every amount.
Why we built the calculator
When importing a car, the advertised price is only the beginning. Excise, sometimes VAT, registration and roadworthiness test fees, transport and translations come on top, and the deadlines and exchange rates follow from several different statutes.
We put it all in one place: you enter the car's details, and the calculator shows every item separately – together with the provision it is based on.
How we calculate
Rates, thresholds and fees come from the consolidated texts of Polish statutes and regulations, and exchange rates from the NBP API for the day the provision specifies.
All provisions we use and the date they were last checked (17/10/2026) are listed on the sources page.
Principles we follow
What the calculator does not do
- We cover purchases in EU countries with registration in Poland and passenger cars; other vehicles need individual verification.
- We do not assess the car's market value – the tax office may challenge an understated price.
- Mild hybrids (MHEV) are calculated at hybrid rates but marked “to verify”.
- We do not estimate insurance premiums, transport prices, translations or fees in the country of purchase – you enter these amounts yourself.
- Detailed export-plate guidance is available for Germany only; for other countries check the rules with the local office.
- Purchases outside the EU (e.g. USA, Switzerland, Norway, United Kingdom) are not supported – they are imports with customs duty and other rules.
- For business purchases we do not account for VAT deduction or income-tax effects.
- The calculator does not replace advice from a tax adviser and does not guarantee the tax office's decision.
